Donald (Don, Jay, Joe) George Fugle, 87, a fiercely independent individual, joined his parents in heaven on January 25, 2018. He passed peacefully at the Elkhorn Rehabilitation Center after a battle with cancer.
Donald was born on November 2, 1930, to Donald P. and Eva R. (Dezort) Fugle as the second of seven children. All of the children were born in Cut Bank, Montana. He graduated from Cut Bank High School in 1948 and went to work for Carter Oil following graduation. He was drafted into the Marine Corps in 1951. He served in the Korean War until he was honorably discharged in 1953. Upon returning to Cut
Bank he resumed working for Carter Oil, which eventually became ExxonMobil. Donald worked for the various companies for a total of 45 years. The majority of this time was spent working in the Cut Bank Red Creek area, while the last couple of years were spent in Kemmerer, Wyoming. Since retiring from ExxonMobil in 1995, he has spent his time at the home he built 10 miles outside of Cut Bank and traveling to various locations in the United States including Alaska, Texas and Wyoming.
Donald was predeceased by both of his parents, Donald P. and Eva R. Fugle, his brother Milo, his sister, Shirley Halvorson, his brother-in-law, George Quenzer, his sister-in-law, Connie Fugle and his nephew, Donald Halvorson. He is survived by his sister, Betty (Bob) Grimm, his sister, Gloria Quenzer, his brother Melvin (Donna) Fugle, his brother, Norman Fugle, and his brother-in-law, Pete Halvorson. In addition he has numerous nieces and nephews.
Donald married Patricia R. Clark on September 6, 1954. They were married for 28 years and had 3 children: Linda (Rodney) Holsworth, Richard (Mary) Fugle and Robert (Vickie) Fugle. He also has 6 grandchildren: Randy Fugle, Kirby Fugle, Kayla Holsworth, Devon Holsworth, Jake Fugle, and Trystin Fugle.
Rite of Committal with Military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Crown Hill Cemetery in Cut Bank, Montana. A Moose memorial service will follow at the Moose Lodge #334, followed by a reception at the lodge, 9 W. Main St., Cut Bank, MT 59427. The women and members of the Moose Lodge will present the memorial. Memorials in honor of Donald are suggested to Moose Lodge #334, P.O.
