Donald Ray Tintinger, age 82, of Helena, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013.
Donald was born August 31, 1930 in Cascade, Montana to Russell and Margaret Tintinger. Donald attended and graduated from Jefferson County High School in 1948. He served in the US Army from April 19, 1951 to February 3, 1953 serving in the Korean War in the 64th Tank Battalion as a mess sergeant. Following his time served in the military, he married his wife Carolyn on June 9, 1957 in Sheridan, Montana. They raised three children, Charles, Dennis, and Valerie.
Donald worked as a millwright for Anaconda Company in Helena and Butte, Getty Oil Company in Shirley Basin, Wyoming. He also worked for several construction companies, and drove school bus for Laidlaw. In his spare time, Donald enjoyed woodworking, traveling in his motorhome, and fishing. He was a life member for VFW post 9349 in Casper, Wyoming.
Donald is survived by his wife, Carolyn K. Tintinger; children Charles (Phyllis) Tintinger of Helena, MT, Dennis (Beverly) Tintinger of Casper, WY, and Valerie (Juergen) Schade, of Casper, WY; brothers Ken (Dee) Tintinger, Wes (Katie) Tintinger; sisters Bette Jane (Gordon) Hoven, June (John) Sine, and Janice Magee; grandchildren Melissa (Brent) Ramsey, Samuel (Erica) Schade, BreAnna and Christopher Tintinger, and Cassie Schade; and great grandchildren Severyn and Xena Schade, and Leah Ramsey.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Margaret Tintinger, sister Edna Johnson and brother-in-law, Melvin Johnson, and niece Alice Lewis.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home with a reception to immediately follow in the social hall at the funeral home. Interment will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 4th, at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials in Donald’s name are suggested to Lewis & Clark Humane Society, P.O. My grandma , Laura Rusek married a Carl Tintinger in 1956. Was Don a nephew to him.?I remember Carl being fron Cascade and seving USA WWI as a volunteer of the “Lincoln Brigade” I believe carl passed on in 1986. he was an avid gold miner south of helena!
