It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Doris A. Kautz, 84, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She passed away peacefully at her home in Glendale, AZ on June 8, 2023.
Doris was born on October 13, 1938 in Heidelberg, Germany. She came to America on Thanksgiving Day in 1958 with her husband Robert (Bob) Kautz, who was stationed there while serving in the US Army and their newborn son Billy. In America they made their home in Laurel & Billings, MT and later moved to Helena, MT. She moved to Glendale, AZ a few years after Bob’s passing in 2003. Doris learned to speak and write English on her own and enjoyed reminiscing about her days in Germany.
Doris was a caring woman who was always there to help people in need; she loved to care for children and the elderly and worked several jobs in nursing homes and daycares throughout her life. She also enjoyed watching game shows with her family and friends. She was very proud of her grandkids and loved to show their pictures to her friends whenever she had the chance.
Doris is survived by her son Bill (Patty) Kautz, Montana City, MT; daughter Karen (Chad) Cundiff, Phoenix, AZ; Grandchildren, Dustin, Danielle (Jim), Dylan, Taylor and Madi. And Great-Grandchildren, Audrey and Emma. She was preceded in death by her parents Hugo Otto, Louise (Leitz) Otto and her husband Robert W. Kautz.
Doris will be laid to rest alongside her loving husband on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery – Fort Harrison with a Graveside Interment. A Celebration of Life will be held at Livestream Senior Living, Glendale, AZ on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Doris’s name to Lewis & Clark Humane Society, PO Box 4455, Helena, MT 59604 www.lchsmontana.org (Doris loved animals, especially dogs).
