Doris McMurray was born in Choteau, MT on October 9, 1927. She died of natural causes in Helena, Montana on July 31, 2013. She graduated from Choteau High School in 1945 and from the University of Montana, Missoula, in 1949. She received the M.A. degree in Spanish from the University of Nebraska in 1951.
Doris lived in Reno, Nevada from 1956 until 1960 where she worked as a Legal secretary in the office of the District Attorney. In 1960 she moved to Ft. Collins, CO where she was an employee of the US Department of Agriculture. After retirement in 1993 she moved to Helena, Montana.
In Helena, Doris was a frequent volunteer for the Friends of the Montana Historical Society. She loved Montana more than any place in the world and became an expert on Montana history.
Doris is survived by her husband George, 2 Nieces, 2 Nephews, and her beloved Schnauzer Hunter. Memorial services will be private. Donations may be sent to the Lewis and Clark Humane Society, the Choteau Public Library, or Bright Eyes of Choteau.
