In Memory Of

Douglas Craig Dean, age 63, Bozeman

February 9, 1950 – August 25, 2013

Douglas Craig Dean, 63, of Bozeman passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013 at his summer home away from home at Canyon Ferry Lake.

Doug was born February 9, 1950 in Bozeman to Oscar and Janis Dean.  He graduated from Bozeman High School in 1969 and from Montana State University in 1974 with a degree in Recreation Area Management.  He married Andrea Dean, and they had two children, Tony and Torrian.  The two were later divorced.  He later spent the last 23 years of his life with his loving wife, Victoria Enger.

Doug worked as a Painting Contractor and also owned and leased warehouses in the Four Corners area.  He loved camping at Canyon Ferry Lake and fishing for walleye in his Lund boat.  He caught six walleye on Friday and kept one trout at the request of Victoria.  He enjoyed hunting for pheasant with his Springer Spaniels, Ty (2009) and Remington (2013).  He loved spending time with his son and daughter, always cheering them on at their soccer games since they were very young and in the past few years with the new soccer players, his grandchildren, Elly and Connor.  He also loved watching golf, and shopping for Tommy Bahama clothes or new toys, whether it was boats, campers, or vehicles, and he loved his new riding lawn mower.

He was a member of Pheasants Forever and the Hyalite Corvette Club.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Janis Dean, and his brothers, Richard Dean and Darren Dean.

Survivors include his wife, Victoria Enger; children, Tony (Jennie) Dean and Torrian (Tory) Dean-Atkins; grandchildren, Ellyse and Connor Atkins; brothers, Duane (Carla) Dean and Michael (Kathy) Dean; sister, Thoralee (John) Hodge; and sisters-in-law, Margaret Dean and Linda Dean and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 30 at 2:00 P.M. at Hope Lutheran Church.

Memorials in Doug’s name may be made to The American Heart Association, PO Box 742030, Los Angeles, CA  90074-2030, www.heart.org.
