Edna May (Bacon) Morris, 89, of Helena, went home peacefully to be with our Lord on Saturday May 10th, 2014.
Edna was born in Canada on April 14th, 1925 to John and Pearl Bacon and lived in Milk River, Canada with 8 siblings. They moved to Belt, Montana when Edna was a young girl to later graduate from high school and marry the love of her life Calvin Abraham Morris in Stanford, Montana on June 7th, 1946. Edna and Cal had two beautiful daughters, Valorie Louis Morris and Rita Kaye Schmidt in Belt, MT. They later moved and settled in Helena making that their home. Edna was a hard working wife at retail sales for many years at McDonald’s for shoes and clothing and Gamers shoe store. She was a supportive and helping ranch hand and wife to her husband Calvin. A very dedicated mother to her special needs daughter Valorie. Edna’s house was always open to those in need and those that were hungry. Edna was a second mom to a few nephews and a very, very special second mom to a grandson. She never let anyone leave her home hungry. She always, and I mean always had a cake or cookies on hand at any given time with fresh coffee to offer anyone. She loved to cook big meals and have family over. It meant so much to her having family around and get togethers. She loved planting flowers and having hanging baskets and really had a green thumb. She will most be remembered for her love she so freely gave and her just simply wanting to be with family.
Surviving are her daughter Valorie of Helena, her sister Rita Tracy, grandson Matthew Schmidt, wife Juanita, daughters Nicole and Samantha of Helena; MT, grandson Justin Schmidt, wife Jeannie, daughter Hailey, son Logan of Hayden Lake, Idaho; and grandson Jacob Schmidt and granddaughter Jordan Schmidt. Brother-in –law Glenn Morris and wife Margaret Morris of WA. Several nphews, nieces, cousins, and many close friends.
Preceded in death are parents John and Pearl Bacon; husband Calvin A. Morris; daughter Rita K. Schmidt; grandson Jason A. Schmidt; brothers Wallace Bacon, Clarence “Bud” Bacon, Garnett Bacon, Howard Bacon; sisters Ruby Pierce, Violet Bestwina, Helen Moore; Louis (Swett) Morris; Joanne King; and Andy Goyins.
Special thanks to Aspen Gardens for taking such good care of my grandma/mom. She loved you all. Most important is that Grandma Edna knew she was saved and going home to see Jesus Christ. Maranatha Grandma, “Our Lord Comes”. We’ll see you soon.
A memorial service celebrating Edna’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 23rd at Liberty Baptist Church, 210 Sierra Road West. A reception will immediately follow the memorial service at the church.

Rest with our Lord Great Aunt Edna. You always made me giggle and was always excited for a visit with you. Much love

I worked with Edna at Gamer’s Shoes many years ago. Though I was a terrible shoe salesman, I always loved coming to work when Edna was there. She made you laugh with the stories she had about past customers she had to deal with (she’s a size 9, but you have to stuff her feet into a size 6 because she swears that’s what size her feet are) and the always entertaining “managers” that swear they know more than you do. I don’t think Edna would have remembered me, but she sure left a great impression on me. God bless you Edna!
Bill Miles says
Edna was a fine employee of ours, and she was liked by all.

Auntie Edna was a very special lady to our family and I have so many memories at her and Uncle Cal as a young girl when we would come over from Washington to visit. We would sleep in the basement at 212 Spencer and running around with the neighbor kids and have a blast. These things I will never forget.
I am so glad that she experienced the loving hand of Christ as she entered into his arms.
I am so sorry I cannot make the service but please know that I am with all of you.
Love you all!
Nancy, Steve and Andrew

I too have fond memories of the good ole days at McDonald Dept Store on Last Chance Gulch. Edna in the shoe department, me in cosmetics and then upstairs in ready to wear. Edna had a very special personality & always upbeat. Holt’s shoe dept. always had the Most Festive Christmas gathering (in the back area of the shoe dept.) Yes, tons of special memories. God Rest Edna. With all my admiration to you. Evy
