In Memory Of

Edward Mee, age 81, of Helena, MT

August 15, 1939 – February 9, 2021

Edward J. Mee, went to meet his Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, February 9th surrounded by his family. On the morning of his death, he said to us: “It’s graduation day”.

Ed was born Aug. 15, 1939 in Great Falls, MT and grew up in Belt, MT. Ed met the love of his life, Vicki in High School and they married in 1961. He served his country in the Air National Guard Reserve for 8 years before moving to Helena, MT where he managed Ocean Beauty Seafoods for 40 years and retired in 2002.

Ed loved nothing more than spending time with family and had a deep, unwavering faith in Jesus Christ until his last breath.

He loved hunting, fishing, and attending local high school and college games with his kids. Often he’d be found tooling around on his old tractor, checking out his pond on the four-wheeler, or going to get the mail with their dog “Fluff” hanging out the window.

He is survived by Vicki, his loving wife of 60 years, his children Todd, Lisa, and Troy; sister Roberta Kandilas of Great Falls, MT; daughters-in-law Tracy and Toni Mee, along with grandchildren Hannah and Tanner Mee and 4 great grandchildren. Dad loved being around kids and they loved his fun and gentle nature.

Ed or “Eddy” as he was known in High School, always had a soft answer, an encouraging word, a gleam in his eye, and was rock steady in his faith in Christ. He is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Ethel Mee of Power, MT, and brother Len Mee of Couer D’Alene, ID.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 19th at 11:00 am at Liberty Baptist Church on Sierra Road in Helena.

One of the last true gentlemen, Ed, I am forever grateful for the light you brought. A soul so gentle and beautiful, your presence was always the calm needed. To Vicki, Lisa, Todd and Tanner, thank you for sharing your husband and father. He was a true gift. Gabby, Izzy and I are forever grateful and especially Gabby with her special fishing times as he would take her under his wing. Godspeed Ed, an angel on earth has returned to heaven.

    Vicki and family,
I couldn’t believe it when I heard of Ed’s passing. My girls and I have such special memories of Ed from the time they were cared for and loved by you, Vicki.
Amanda, Morgan, Dani and Paige, remember Ed fishing in your pond, sometimes even going fishing with him, getting to touch the fish , and watching him clean the catch of the day. I remember coming to pick up the girls and Ed would be sitting in the chair next to the fire with your little dog in his lap or going down the drive to get the mail. He was such a gentle giant. My later memories are seeing he and Todd at every home game in the Capital High gym.
We hold you close in our hearts and prayers now, and in the times to come.
Love, Anne, Kevin, Amanda, Morgan, Dani and Paige Bartsch

    Vicki,

I am saddened to read of Ed’s passing and pray for your comfort. I so appreciated that Ed took in my paint mare, Wind, and cared for her so well, through winters and summers! Visiting with you and Ed, riding around your beautiful pond and along the creek, and watching Wind frolic in your pastures are among my fondest memories of your piece of paradise on earth.

    With love,
    Jan Clinard and Wind
