Elaine Biggs Williams
On the morning of October 19, 2021, mom passed away peacefully at her residence in Helena, MT of natural causes. She was 96 years old.
She was born in Barberton, Ohio on May 6, 1925 to Marie Soucik Biggs and Clark Biggs.
After graduating from Barberton High School in 1943, she attended the University of Akron through the U.S. Army Nurse Cadet Program.
In 1944, Mom began writing to a former classmate who was deployed in the pacific theater during WWII flying in a B-29 Superfortress squadron over Japan. On June 14, 1947, she married her former classmate, Wayne Williams.
Mom and Dad raised two sons and had been married 71 years at the time of Dad’s passing on July 8, 2018. She loved to sing and play her guitar. She started a choral group she recruited from the Missoula Senior Center in the 80’s. They performed around the Missoula area at retirement communities, hospitals and nursing homes for several years.
Mom’s career as a registered nurse spanned 48 years. Following her retirement as the quality control director at Missoula Community Hospital, mom and dad moved to Clancy, MT in 1991 to be closer to their sons and grandchildren.
Being avid golfers, mom and dad spent winters at their home in Yuma, Arizona, until the great-grandchildren were born.
Mom was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Wayne; her mother and step-father, an infant sister and her youngest son, Jeffry. She is survived by her son, Mark (Annette); daughter-in-law, Debera Williams; granddaughter, Erin LaFromboise (Heath); grandsons, Paul Williams, Adam Williams (Stephanie), Jonathon Williams; and great-grandchildren, Leighton and Maysa LaFromboise, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Private Graveside Service will be held on November 5, 2021 at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery, at Fort Harrison.
In lieu of flowers, please send a memorial donation to your favorite charity.
Our family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Marie Lavinder, who treated mom like a family member during her last nine months. We would also like to say a special thanks to Dean, Shelley, Kat and Michelle at Hunter’s Pointe; and Donagene LaFromboise and Dr. Book, Corrine, Trish and Paul at Encompass Hospice.

So very sorry for your loss of your mother. I will never forget the day I met her here at Stoney Brook Village. I was trying to unlock the door to the clubhouse and she saw I was not being successful. She came over with her key and unlocked it for me. I ended up going back to her condo and enjoyed a wonderful visit with her and Wayne. I had just moved here from WI. From that day on I considered her a very special friend. A very special bond was formed between us. After Wayne died Emily and I went to visit her at Hunter’s Point. There were many people here at Stoney Brook at Wayne’s funeral. They both were very respectful and loved by many.

I am so sorry to hear this news. Both Elaine and Wayne touched my life, in a very short amount of time, with how kind and loving they were. I will be forever grateful that our paths crossed and that I had the chance to get to hear some of their stories. From the moment I saw them, I knew they loved each other very much. Im sure Wayne was waiting with open arms to greet Elaine. Sending all my love to you Mark and Annette, and all of your family.

I so loved Mr. and Mrs. Williams so much. I started as they’re cleaning lady then I wanted to be part of the family. Mrs. Williams was an absolute wonderful lady. Mr. Williams was such a smart caring gentleman. I so hope to at her celebration. She truly will be remembered nonetheless.
