Ellen Ramona Little Dennis passed away on December 14, 2023 surround by those she loved. She was born on October 16, 1928 in Seattle, Washington to Edward & Alice Little. They returned to Helena while Ellen was still a toddler and she never left. She graduated from Helena Senior High School. On July 21, 1950 she married David Dennis and together they settled into Helena and had 50+ years of adventures. Daughter Linda joined this little family in 1956. They were thrilled with the birth of their grandson Gavin. He was the pride and joy of both Mom and Dad.
Mom worked for the Highway Department for years, retiring in 1986. She was an avid bowler and she and Dad had many great bowling trips. She was a member of the Helena Homemakers Club and a member of the Elks Club with her husband. Once they both retired, they embarked on their greatest adventure – racing horses. Mom went from high fashion to mucking stalls. She and Dad started breeding and training their own colts. G.R.’s Dream was the product of Dennis’ Stables. Mom’s pampering contributed to G.R.’s Dream success in both Montana and Arizona. Those who knew her, knew of her love for her pets. We would probably say she was a “over the top” fanatic!
Mom is preceded in death by both of her parents, her beloved brother Ed, her partner and husband David, and her son in law Kent Harris. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Harris of Red Lodge, Grandson Gavin and Johanna Williams of Laurel, great grandchildren Anastasia, David and Josefina, cousin Gene Prendergast of Helena and several nieces and nephews and friend Glen Hinman.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Beartooth Billings Clinic Foundation, PO Box 1290, Red Lodge, MT 59068.

Ellen was a wonderful co-worker at the Highway Department for the first 8 years that I was there. She was always so cheerful as she delivered the mail.
My sons and I bought hay from Dave and Ellen for a long time. My son Corey, learned to drive at their place as he would drive our truck as I bucked the bales of hay. They were a wonderful couple and I feel honored to have known them both.
