I never got to meet Mr. Houseman but everyday I get to enjoy a piece of his heart. I have been breeding Cinnamon rabbits for the last 4 years. Without him and Rose these magnificent rabbits would not be. We often talk about the Housemans as if we knew them, and in a way we did. Every litter of baby rabbits born, always wondering what rabbits were mixed to create them and how to improve them without ruining what Ellis and Rose intended them to be. I am now the Vice President of the Cinnamon Rabbit Breeders Association a national club for Cinnamon Rabbits. It was estimated that over 1800 cinnamons were shown in 2015 and this year we are hoping to no longer be on the Rare Rabbit listings. I know this would make Ellis shine if he knew this. Ellis and Rose left a long lasting legacy and they will be remembered always. God Bless ~ The Daniel Family Washington State

Ellis got me started showing rabbits as a preteen, and effectively kept me out of a lot of trouble I was likely headed for. He was gruff, and ornery, and had a heart as big as the great outdoors. I will never forget him chasing boys out of the rabbit barn, smacking them in the heels yelling “get away from my pretty girls!” When I worked for him in the Rabbit Barn at the Western Montana Fair. I know I am far from the only youth he helped and influenced over the years, and the world is a dimmer place for many without the light of his impish smile and glow of his generous heart.

Elis and Rose, life long family friends..Elis and my dad helped design rabbit feed back in the late 1950s as we showed rabbits at State Fairs and meat to grocery stores in Missoula. ELIS HAD A BEDROOM FULL of ribbons from shows. May they both rest in peace in the house of the LORD together. The most wonderful people you could ever have as friends.

As the teenager next door, I was the girl who got to take care of Mr and Mrs Housemans rabbits and dogs while they were away at shows or traveling. I had numerous rabbits from Mr Houseman for my 4H projects. I was very blessed to come home to the same house I grew up in after 35 years and become a neighbor once again. Was a true blessing. My heart and prayers to the family. They both will be missed dearly.
