Ema Rene (Fohn) McQuaid was born on April 12, 1972 to John “Jack” and Alice Fohn in Seattle, Washington. Shortly after her birth the family moved to Helena, Montana where she was raised. Ema graduated from Capital High School and went on the study at the University of Montana. Ema later transferred to Carroll College. Ema was a member of several Masonic organizations.
Ema moved to Seattle where she enjoyed living and had many friends. She worked for the Greater Seattle YMCA and enjoyed spending her summers at Camp Coleman and Camp Orkila. Ema met a wonderful man, Patrick, and they were married October 23, 2003. Ema and Pat were blessed to have a beautiful baby girl Ela in 2010. Ema loved making cookies with Ela. The family enjoyed going to Lake Chelan and taking their boat to Stehekin. Ema loved going to Mariners games and was an avid baseball fan.
Ema was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and continued to work as long as she could. Sadly, Ema passed away surrounded by Pat, Ela, and Jodel on October 10, 2023. Pat and Ela were the most incredible and loving caregivers she could have asked for. Ema loved them to the moon and back. One of the hardest things required of us, was the day we let the Angels take her to heaven.
Ema is proceeded in death by her parents, Jack and Alice Fohn, and her father-in-law, Michael McQuaid. Ema is survived by her devoted husband Pat, loving daughter Ela, favorite sister Jodel, furry babies Mathew and Lincoln, an Aunt Marian Graham of Colorado, and extended family. A private memorial will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Pad for Paws, 2115 Euclid Ave, Helena, MT 59601 or YMCA of Greater Seattle, Camp Orkila-Ema McQuaid, 909 Forth Ave,Seattle, WA, 98104.
