On April 26, 2018, our loving dad, grandpa brother and uncle Ernest “Ernie” Bundy passed away from a heart attack. Ernie was born on February 15, 1951 in Deer Lodge, MT to Marion and Hank Yahne. He was the youngest of 11 children. Ernie spent his early years in the logging camp above Ovando. When he was five years old his name was changed from Yahne to Bundy.
Before moving to the Helena Valley with his family, Ernie attended school in Missoula, Moiese and Charlo. He graduated from Helena High in 1970.
Ernie lived in Shelton, WA for several years before moving back to the Helena area.
Ernie loved to go hunting and fishing with his children. He worked in the construction field to provide for his family. He was a hardworking man whom loved his family. He also loved watching sports; football being his favorite.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, sisters; Louise Merkel, Milly Lutton, Anita Garret. Brothers; Lee and Keith Chamberlain. He is survived by sisters; Betty (Lloyd) Huttinger, Ellen (Stan) Wright, Myrta and Edna. Daughters; Crystal (Edward) Hosmer, Stephanie (Tory) Stephens. Son William (Kayla) Bundy. Grandchildren; Dale Hamilin, Deidra Hosmer, Shelby, Dominick, Jolie Bundy, and Daniel Stephens. Numerous nieces and nephews will miss him dearly as well.
A service celebrating Ernest’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 4 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 North Montana Ave. A burial will take place after the services at Forestvale Cemetery. A reception will be held back at the funeral home’s social hall immediately following the burial. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in Ernest’s name to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, 5705 Grant Creek Rd, Missoula, MT 59808, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
