Esther Anna Hudnall, 97, of Helena, passed May 8,2011, at Big Sky Care Center in Helena, Montana. She was born April 15, 1914, in Elk City, Kansas, the daughter of William Fredrick and Mary Elizabeth (McClanahan) Weber.
She moved to Prowers, Colorado with her family when she was six and on to Las Animas, Colorado a few years later. Where her father managed and later purchased the Chevrolet Garage to be known as the Weber Chevrolet Company. While attending high school in Las Animas she met and married the love of her life Robert Moore Hudnall. Who preceded her in their next adventure and was waiting for her with open arms to escort her along the way.
In 1944 the family moved to Montana, where Bob gained employment with the Montana State Highway Department. They maintained a home in Forsyth until their son Robert, Jr. graduated from high school in 1950. Esther worked for the J. C. Penny store there during this period. After their son’s graduation she moved with her husband around the Miles City area, spending several years in Broadus.
1956 saw Bob transferred to the Highway’s Engineering Department in Helena. Esther was employed at the at the Federal Reserve Bank for several years until she retired.
Her home was always open to her friends, she looked forward to their visits and enjoyed them so much. She was loved and appreciated by all who knew her.
Esther is survived by her son Robert Hudnall, Jr. and his wife Caroline of East Helena. Her nieces, Patricia Jean (Weber) Styers of Sarasota, FL, Thelma Jane (Weber) Murphy of Placerville, CA and Joan Marie (Flinn) Martine of Centennial, CO.
A memorial service is scheduled at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Retz Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at a later date in Colorado.
