Evelyn Helen Huggett (née Michlitsch), affectionately known as Evie, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2024, in Helena, Montana, at the age of 74. Born on April 27, 1950, in Britton, South Dakota, Evelyn was a cherished figure in her community and beloved by her family.
Evelyn graduated from Roslyn High School in Roslyn, South Dakota. She married her high school sweetheart shortly after graduation. Throughout her life, she held various positions, mostly a homemaker and always there to lend a helping hand. She started at a figure salon, then bookkeeping, managing apartment complexes, and other diverse roles that showcased her adaptability and willingness to embrace new challenges.
Evelyn was a talented cook and baker, known for her patience and nurturing nature. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she spent joyful hours cooking with her family. This love of culinary arts is a legacy she has passed down through the generations. In addition to her cooking, Evelyn was also passionate about crafts and crocheting, often found creating beautiful, handcrafted items for her loved ones and community. She was always ready to lend a helping hand, embodying a spirit of generosity and kindness.
Family was central to Evelyn’s life. She is survived by her son, Jason Huggett; daughter, Amber Huggett; granddaughters, Connie Kiyoshi, Trinity Nelson, and Chloe Nelson; sisters, Jean Steiner and Carol Seal. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Huggett, her parents, Gerhardt and Evelyn Michlitsch and siblings brother Gary, brother Dennis, sister Judy and sister Audrey.
A memorial service to celebrate Evelyn’s life will be held in June 2025 at Fron Lutheran Church in Roslyn, South Dakota, where friends and family can gather to honor her memory and the profound impact she had on their lives. Evelyn’s life was a testament to her enduring positivity and the deep love she had for her family, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, resilience, and compassion.
