Everett H. “Bud” Munroe
July 29, 1929 – March 21, 2016
Bud was born in Great Falls, Montana to Everett and Florence (Nelson) Munroe and grew up in Dutton, Montana. He graduated from the College of Great Falls. For many years he was the owner of the Howard Connor Company in Great Falls and owned and operated several other insurance agencies in and around Montana.
Bud served in the United States Air Force from 1948-1952. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Bud was active in several service organizations, serving as governor of the Optimist International, president of the Jaycee Toastmasters Club in Great Falls and a long time active member of the Capital City Optimist Club in Helena. He also was a member of the U.S. Judo Federation and a second degree black belt. He ran the Judo program in Great Falls for many years involving his three sons with him. Bud was a member of the American Tae-Kwon Do Karate Institute and holder of a black belt in karate.
Bud married Darlene Waterman in 1953. Four children, Rocky, Dawn, Dave and Dana were born to them. Darlene predeceased Bud in 1988. Bud and Helen Bownes were married in 1989 in Helena, Montana. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Roberta, his first wife, Darlene, his son, Dave and step-son, Tom Bownes and recent passing of his brother-in-law Bob Young.
Bud is survived by his wife, Helen; his children, Rocky (Judy Loring) Munroe, Dawn (Doug) Burpee, Dana (Brenda) Munroe; and Helen’s children, Mary Margaret Bownes, Ann Marie (Kevin) McDuffie; his sister, Irene Young, his brother, Richard and wife, Molly and his brother-in-law, Glen Wills. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Donald, Mike, Alisa, Jamison, David, Derrick, Travis, Brandon, Jake, Matthew, Montana, Erin, Tom, Bridget, Sean, Liam and Mary.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 30th at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home. A Vigil service will be 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 30th at Saint Mary Catholic Community. Funeral Mass will be 12:10 p.m. Thursday, March 31st at Saint Mary Catholic Community. A reception will follow in the social center of the church. Rite of Committal with military honors will be approximately 2:45 p.m. at Resurrection Cemetery.
