Faye D. Terrio, age 76 of Helena passed away April 11, 2020. Faye was born in Helena, Montana on June 21, 1943 to Joseph Terrio and Ellen Newman. Faye grew up in Helena and graduated from Helena High School. She married Joseph Terrio in 1961.
Fay had an impressive 52-year career working at Van’s Thriftway in Helena. She truly enjoyed working with all the customers and coworkers every day. Hugs and stickers were always at the ready.
In her free time, Faye enjoyed making cookbooks from family recipes, indoor gardening, traveling to Las Vegas and Maine and an avid reader all types of books. She was a member of the retail clerk’s union and of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Faye loved spending time with her cat, Banditt and her two labs.
Faye enjoyed all the times she could spend with her kids and family. You could always find her with her camera taking photos.
Faye is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joseph; children, Gary (Kathy) Terrio of Helena, MT, Tim Terro of Bakersfield, California, Diane (Pat) Field of Pendroy, Montana and Eric (Amy) Terrio of East Helena; brother Larry (Shirley) Charlton of Helena; sister, Lois (Ken) Hession of Palm Harbor, Florida; thirteen grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ellen Charlton; grandson Damiean Terrio and brother, Ed Charlton.

I am so sorry to hear about Faye. She was a good friend to my mom, they worked together at Van’s for many many years, and always had a big smile and hug for me when I saw her at the grocery store after my mom passed. She will be missed by many.

Faye served on a jury trial of mine in 1983 when I was a young lawyer. We reminisced about that over the years at Thriftway. She was always pleasant and friendly. I will miss her.

I frequently shop at Van’s and was always happy to get in line at Faye’s checkout! I would wait in line even when there was no waiting at other checkouts. Faye was always cheerful, gracious and kind to everyone. She will be missed by many customers at Van’s. Condolences to her family, those at home and those at the store.

I will miss talking to Faye at the checkstand as she puts a rubber band around my eggs so they won’t open up in the grocery bag. When I moved here 29 years ago I asked her if she could recommend a bank for me and she steered me to Opportunity bank where her daughter worked. I will miss her smiling face when I shop at Vans grocery store.

I have known Faye since I was a kid. It would be hard to find a kinder woman anywhere. I couldn’t get out of Van’s without a hug, a smile and positive word from Faye. I will miss her presence and feel fortunate to have known her.

I moved to Helena in the fall of 1973. Faye was a young cashier at what was then Super Save. Faye was always courteous and welcoming. She remained that way for so many years.
