James Dyer Flesher, 84, of Clancy, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2012 in Billings, Montana due to complications of mitral valve replacement surgery. James was born in Portland, Oregon, on July 3, 1928 to Clinton G. and Mary Dyer Flesher. James married his wife of 62 years, Mary Edna Flesher on June 11, 1950. Jim proudly served his country with the Air Force. He then worked for the Mountain States Telephone and Telephone Company in Great Falls from 1955 to 1966 and then in Helena from 1966 to 1983Jim enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking, boating, cross country skiing, photography, his sightseeing trips, especially the ones to Glacier National Park, and watching Baseball.Jim was an active member of Clancy United Methodist Church, Rocky Mountain Water Users Association, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies, Algeria Shrine, and the Telephone Pioneers Association. Jim was preceded in death by both of his parents, Clinton G. and Mary Dyer Flesher, and Sister Mary Olena Troutman, M.D.Jim is survived by his wife, Mary E. Flesher; children, James Robert Flesher (Fiance Cheri and her daughters Sierra and Savanah), Marilyn Irene (Randy) Buck ; grandchildren; Raymond Buck, Lyssa Flesher, Kathryn Flesher, Chelsey Flesher, Tia Marie and Austin Jacobs and numerous Nephews and Nieces.
A visitation will be held from noon to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Avenue. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 13th at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at Montana State Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Harrison. We are saddend by Jim’s passing, but we will cherish the memories of Jim’s unselfish service to his neighbors and others. He was diligent in shepherding the water users association for decades, and was meticulous in performing that volunteer task. Jim was a man of high principles and treated others with kindness.
