On Wednesday, January 17th, Frances M. Muldowney died peacefully surrounded by loved ones. She will be deeply missed and celebrated for years to come. Frances was born December 4, 1924, in Ft. Collins, CO to Charles and Mary Bishopp. Frances grew up with an incredible joy and love for life and adventure.
Frances was extraordinarily creative and this manifested itself in many ways. Her artistry with needle and thread led to the creation of beautiful clothes for many friends and family, and countless handmade gifts for loved ones. When Frances set a dinner table, or wrapped a package it was done with so much attention to detail and care that they were works of art on their own.
In a life that stretched from the mountains of Montana to the grasslands of Kenya, Frances shared so much light with others. Besides being an incredibly strong mother and grandmother, she had a talent for connecting with people from all walks of life, that was uniquely her. She worked with children including those with special needs as well as the elderly; her ability to love was boundless.
Frances brought an elegance to every occasion just by being in the room. Equally as evident would be an aura of mischief at times, and those who knew her well will tell stories of her many pranks. She had a way of making you believe in magic, because she was magical to so many who loved her dearly.
Frances is survived by her children, Patty Opitz (Jim), Susan Sacry, (Rand) and Jim Muldowney (Charlotte). She is also survived by her dearly loved grandchildren, Heidi Opitz (Reg), Kevin Opitz (Angela), Amanda Opitz (Micah), Thomas Muldowney (Lindsey), Ryan Muldowney (Yuri), Justina and Brianna Sacry and step-grandchildren, Hesston Enjady, Clarence Enjady, and Pascal Enjady (Erica), along with 15 great grandchildren.
A Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23rd at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 1502 Shirley Rd., Helena, MT 59602. A reception will follow the Mass in the social hall of the church. In Lieu of flowers, memorials in Frances’ name may be made to Our Lady of the Valley Church.
