Freda Rose (Chapman) Miller, 98, passed away of natural causes at her apartment in Helena, MT on March 20, 2013. She was born on November 17, 1914, to Orris and Mabel (Ekemier) Chapman. She married Leslie R. Miller on May 19, 1934.
Les and Freda spent most of their married life on a ranch in the Bears Paw Mountains at Lloyd, MT. In 1959, they retired and moved into Chinook, MT. In 1971, Freda and Les began spending their winters in Mesa, AZ, where they thoroughly enjoyed the warm weather and playing cards with their many friends. Les passed away in 1998 at their home in Mesa. In 2011, Freda moved to Helena, MT, residing at Touchmark, where she enjoyed spending time with new friends and family until her death.
Freda was a great cook and enjoyed entertaining. Freda loved spending time with family, listening to music (especially Lawrence Welk), and watching people dance. Recently, Freda’s favorite pastimes were watching a good game of cards, putting puzzles together, playing with young children, and going out to eat. Her favorite drink was a Colorado Bulldog.
Preceding Freda in death were her husband, Leslie, an infant daughter, Shirley, three brothers and one sister.
Surviving Freda are her two sons: Max (Leah) Miller of Chinook, MT, and Gary (Shirley) Miller of Clancy, MT; five granddaughters: Thea (George) VanCampen, Lisa (Gus) Christopoulos, Debbie (Terry) Churchill, Teri (Roche) Juneau and Mitzi Miller (Martin) Bain; and nine great grandchildren: Cole and Kyle VanCampen, Kelsey and Ryan Christopoulos, Philip Churchill, Sara Juneau, Chase Juneau, Kate Bain and Andrew Bain. She is also survived by two sisters: Dorothy Obie and Marietta Mosser both of Chinook, MT, and many nieces and nephews.
The family gives Special Thanks to Marie Lavinder and Renee Little, who lovingly cared for Freda, made sure she always looked good, and participated in the things she enjoyed most. The family also wants to thank the staff and friends at Touchmark and The Salon at Touchmark for their love and friendship.
The Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013. There will be a memorial service celebrating Freda’s life at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Touchmark, 915 Saddle Dr. A family gathering will be held at a later date in Chinook, MT. Flowers and memorials may be sent to Touchmark, to be used for their Life Enrichment Program.
