Frederick K. Madison, 92, of Helena, passed away on February 20, 2013 of natural causes. He was a resident of the Cooney Home in Helena at the time of his passing.
Fred was born to Henry and Doris Madison on July 28, 1920 in Boulder, Montana and grew up in the Jefferson City area.
Fred was married to Marie Cuchine in 1942. Marie passed away in 1978. In 1944 Fred began his career with the Burlington Northern Railroad. Through his years he worked his way up to an engineer position, retiring in 1982 after 38 years of service.
In 1979 Fred married Viola Miller of Helena, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fred and Vi spent their retirement traveling, spending their winters in Yuma, Arizona and summers in Helena.
Fred was dedicated to the railroad but his other passions were music and mining and shared them both with Vi. Fred loved to dance, listen to music and taught himself to play several instruments including the piano and accordion. Fred also loved mining. He purchased several mining claims in the Jefferson City area and spent many enjoyable hours exploring and operating them.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, sister Louise and niece Mary Lou Kruse.
Fred is survived by Immediate family; Viola, his wife of 34 years, cousins Jim and Betty Madison (Jefferson City), Niece Diana Hahn (Reedpoint).

Vi, Sorry to hear about Fred. The memory I have of him was when we ran into you both at a party in Salt Lake City a long time ago and how he sat down with Mike and I and talked a long time to us about mining and other interesting topics.
