Gary O’Brian, age 68, passed away on July 3, 2017 at his home in Helena.
Gary was born on August 30, 1948 to Ethel O’Brian Kuntz and Michael O’Brian in Seattle, WA. He spent his younger childhood years in Livingston, MT before moving to Helena where he lived most of his life.
He graduated from Helena High and later spent some time as a member of the Montana National Guard. He was a very proud member of the Loyal Order of Moose starting in 1992, working his way to the top level of Pilgrim Degree. He worked several jobs, including the grocery business, construction, and maintenance for the Helena School District before retiring.
Gary loved camping, fishing, old country music, barbequing and cooking for family and friends. He was an excellent cook. His family and friends were always the most important thing to him, especially the grandkids.
He is survived by his wife Eileen O’Brian; sons Cory (Rachel) O’Brian of Helena, Tony (Kim) O’Brian of Helena, and Bob (Julieann) Hannesson of Colorado; brother Mike O’Brian (Cherilee) of Helena; sisters Michele (Dave) Johnson of Washington and Bobbie O’Brian of Helena; grandchildren Kade, Camryn, Kellan, Isabel, Aidan, Regan, Tristan, Alaura, Bryce, Tanner, Dominic, Damian, Britnee, and Eileen; and many more nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel Kuntz and Michael O’Brian and his Uncle Paul and Auntie Claire Rank.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday July 12th at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave. A reception will immediately follow the celebration of life in the Social Hall of the funeral home.
