Gene R. Hanson, passed away on Tuesday, September 15th at 10:10PM in his home in Helena, Mt, surrounded by his family.
Gene was born in Columbus on February 18, 1942 to the late Everlin and Mary Hanson. His sister, Janet Faye Hanson White, resides in Edinburgh.
Gene is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beverly Jean Hanson; son James R. Hanson of Coeur d’Alene, ID; and daughters Debora Walker of Roseville, CA, Michelle Grider of Columbus, IN, and Raechel Hanson of Roseville, CA. Gene also has five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Immediately after graduating from Columbus (North) High School, Gene served in the United States Air Force for 6 years in Fairfield, CA where he met his wife, Beverly Jean. He returned to Columbus to work for Reliance Electric Company and raise his family. Upon retirement in 2002, he moved to Helena, MT.
Gene was a long-time member of Faith Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his grandkids, collectable knives and the occasional donut with a twinkle in his eye.
Services will be held as First Lutheran Church in Helena, MT on Tuesday, September 22nd at 2:00 PM.

Gene and I went to highschool and prom together, i had a car and he didn’t. me and gene shared the same month birthday, his was a day before mine. i know what you are going through, my wife passed away 5 years ago. it will take time for things to get better. p.s.
