Dearest Donna and family,
I was so sorry to hear about George. I can’t imagine how it is for you and your family.
I think back of all the great times we had in years gone by.
The extra special friendships that you and George, Bev and Tom Nichols and Jack Anderson and I shared. George was always the entertainer and kept us all laughing and was ready for our next escapade.. I always remember his voice and the wonderful smile that he alway wore.
For all of us who shared a friendship with George our hearts are saddened by his passing.
I’m thinking of you and your family and hope that with time your heart will heal. You have my deepest symapathy.

George had a wonderful sense of humor. I could always count on his booming voice to add a touch of fun to any situation. I don’t think I ever saw him when he didn’t have a smile on his face. In our high school annual, he listed his nickname as “Egroeg”. I’ve never forgotten that.

Dear Donna and family,
I was so sorry to hear about George’s death. He was such a handsome, funny and warm man–I used to tell him that he was my handsomest cousin, but “don’t tell the others.” I’m so glad I got to see him a few times in the past several years, and I’ll always remember him. I hope you all can find comfort in your memories of George.

Dave Anderson says
So sorry for your loss…. George was a great mentor and a good friend when I first joined HPD… I will never forget the time he called in franticly about a man at Main and Lyndale, standing in the street crying and screaming….. a few seconds later he called in that everything was code-4; just a North Dakotan complaining because his snow tires had melted!!!
Dana (Koon) VanSteenvort says
Oh no!! I work at the humane society and just saw a memorial for George.
Sending all of you love and thinking about you as this sad time.
I had a silly memory of him from when I was little. I was riding my bike at the bottom of our block on Orange street as he was driving his big truck towards home…. as my silly bike broke in HALF (yes, half). After I crashed he pulled the truck over and jumped out because he thought he hit me! Poor guy. I bet it gave him a good laugh when he saw the bike.
He was a great man, a sweet man, a kind hearted man, who always had a sincere smile for me. What a great memory to have, what a lasting impression he made on me.

George was my drum teacher during my teens in Helena. He taught me the skills not only in playing the drums but a solid work ethic that I will always carry with me. A great man and mentor.
