Gregory Louis ‘Greg’ Pollack, age 73, of Helena, passed away March 9, 2013 at his home in Helena.
Greg was born December 23, 1939 in Helena, Montana to Wendlin ‘Barney’ and Janet M. (Moisan) Pollack. He attended St. Helena Grade School and graduated from the Cathedral High School before going on to the Montana State University in Bozeman for a year.
Greg worked for Helena Sheet Metal Works since 1956, being owner and operator, taking over from his father. He married Diana Carpenter on July 11, 1961 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Helena. They enjoyed 43 years of marriage before her passing in September of 2004. Greg loved classic and antique cars, model garden railroading, fine dining and travel.
Greg was involved in the MT Pioneer and Classic Car Club-Life Time Member, Capital Carriages Antique Car Club, Chamber of Commerce, Moose Lodge, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, AARP, National Home Builders Association, and Contractors Association. He also was a member of Kiwanis, Eagles, and Elks.
Greg is survived by his sister, Elizabeth J. ‘Betty’ Pollack of Helena; an aunt, Helena Goetz of Helena; cousin, Shirley Ann Call and her husband, Mark of Washington; and John R. Moisan and family of Minnesota. Also surviving him are special friends, Gloria Purcell, Garry Guettler, and Hank Bomar all of Helena; many friends and many other relatives. Gregory was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Diana.
Greg wanted cremation and no services. His only request was to “Remember me as I was, enjoying life.” He will be laid to rest with his wife at Resurrection Cemetery.
