Our shining light has burned out too soon. Hailee Marie Cross passed away unexpectedly Monday May 2nd. Although she is missed by many, we know she is happy to rejoin her grandparents, great grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.
Hailee was born December 31, 1997 in Helena, Montana. She was the middle child and only daughter of Kim and Rusty Cross. Hailee grew up in Canyon Ferry, Montana and attended Helena High School and graduated as Magna Cum Laude in the class of 2016. She then attended Montana Tech in Butte, Montana where she graduated with honors and gained her engineering degree in 2021. After graduation she took off on vacation and went to visit family, friends and see the world before she started her career. Hailee was employed by Robert Peccia and Associates until her passing.
Anyone who knew Hailee knew she loved spending time with her family, photography, drawing and loving on her teacup yorkie Mac otherwise known as “Poo.” If you were to ask her family and friends about Hailee, the first thing they’d tell you is how gorgeous she was, inside and out. Despite her flaming red locks and snake-charming eyes, Hailee was always shy and slow to enter conversations. When she did, however, she would be the first one to keep you in line and the first one to tell you she loved you. Young or old, once you drew Hailee into a conversation she knew how to make you feel special. Hailee loved with her whole heart and once you became one of her “people.” She had you for life.
Hailee is preceded in death by her grandparents Jean and Al Brown, great grandparents Jim and Cora Kelsey, Irene Rasmussen, and her aunt Sadie Rasmussen
Hailee is survived by her parents Kim and Rusty Cross, brothers Hunter and Hayden of Helena; grandparents Ed (Paula) Rasmussen of White Sulphur Springs; grandparents Dick (Linda) Cross of Clancy; grandparents Rita (Jim) Cross of Helena; aunts and uncles Kristal (Jeff) Ward of Billings; Kathie (Aaron) Helfert of Helena; Kori (Dusty) Waller of Sachse, TX; Korri (Kari) Rasmussen of Indian Valley, ID; Angie (Tom) Evans of White Sulphurs; Carl (Cindy) Cross of Harlowton; Penne (Doug) Cross of Helena; Billy (Kim) Cross of Helena; Stacy (Dan) Roope of Helena; cousins Rachel Olaf and Nicky Cross; Nicholas, Jaime and Autumn Cross; Cody, Caden and Cooper Cross and Destiny Alberts; Marcus, Justin and Trey Roope; Kolter, Klancy (Jessica), Kooper and Seth Jones.
Hailee was a friend to more than we can ever name, and you know who you are. We thank you for being such an important part of her life. We give a special thank you to Libby Ellermeyer, Tjaden Pallister, Conley Spurlock, Kila Bakke and all of her adopted family from the Glass Slipper, East Helena, Helena, and Butte communities for more reasons than we can count. Hailee loved you, and we love you too.
