On January 7, 2023, Harold H. Leu, 96 of Clancy Montana, passed from this world to the next due to medical complications. Born to Herman and Hilda Leu on November 26, 1926, Harold attended school through the eighth grade at the Travis Creek School before joining his parents on the family ranch. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Edward Leu.
Harold married Joann Marie DeBree on June 6, 1950 celebrating 72 plus years together. Three children were born from their union: Russ (Carrie), Karen (Darrell), and Cindy. After retiring from ranching in 1980, Harold and Joann spent many years traveling to several states often in their fifth wheel including Alaska for deep sea fishing, North Dakota for October Fest, and the New England states in the Fall. International travel included countries in Europe, especially Switzerland where generations of the Leu family originated.
As a member of the Masonic Lodge in Marysville, Harold was charged with keeping the Whoopie Wagon in top condition for use in parades. He spent many delightful hours restoring automobiles often from vehicles found rusting away in a field somewhere. Harold and Joann were long time members of the Clancy Methodist Church and made many longtime friends there.
In addition to being survived by his three children, Harold was blessed with seven grandchildren: Lindsey Williams, Ryan Leu, Jennifer Bergmann, Melissa Hughes, Britni Miller, Erica Ihde, and Andrea Miller and seven great grandchildren. A special thanks to the staff of Son Heaven for their loving care of Harold while he was in residence there. A Memorial Service will be held later this Spring.

Brother Harold Leu was the finest gentleman I have ever met, he was kind and caring. The times we spent in Lodge talking about old cars was very entertaining. When the Lodge had their Garage Sale, Harold was always one of the first to say “what can I do to help”. He will be sorely missed by all of his Mason Brothers. RIP Brother Harold

Harold lived a kind, rich life, one that can truly be celebrated. Raising a family that reflected his goodness was his greatest accomplishment, I’m sure, shared with his devotion to Joanne. May you all cherish him in your hearts forever. Our love to you all.

Leu Family,
I first met Harold in the mid-1970’s when I was very young. Even at my young age then I could tell Harold was a person of high integrity, his polite manners stood out, etc.,- a real gentleman. Our world would be better with more like Harold Leu among us. Take care.

So many great memories of growing up around Harold and Joann. He was a calm and polite leader in the chaos of July 4th parties at the Schoolhouse, xc ski potlucks, and every other reason the Clancy and Lump Gulch community gathered. A life well lived, for sure.
Hugs from the Baker Family.
