I am very sorry for the family’s loss. I did not know Harold other than through Mardi talking about him but he was clearly a great guy.

A gentle giant has taken that highway beyond the horizon. I worked with Harold, both in Drivers Education and on faculty at HHS. Harold was quick to help this young “pup of a new Dr. Ed instructor” get his feet on the ground in traffic education. His easy, unassuming personality made him so approachable. His simple explanations were so valuable. Rest In Peace, my friend. Condolences to his family and friends.

Mr Slocum was one of my 8th grade teachers at Helena Junior High; I recall him being very calm and patient, which was necessary with our group. This was sometime in the 1960’s. He was a wonderful guy and made learning interesting. Peace to his family.

Great example of of a Christian Gentleman!
Walter Crystal Crane says
We have such great memories of Harold! Walter & I lived across the street from Harold & Loretta on Orange Street for years. As each kid got to drivers education age Walter went to the sign up office and waited in line – in the dark – in the cold – to make SURE each one got in Mr. Slocum’s class. What a wonderful, kind, Godly man. With the best smile. We are sorry for your loss here on earth, he will be missed. Praying comfort in your memories and knowledge you will see him again. Hugs

So very sad to hear this news. I have such great memories of Harold. Such a kind and FUNNY man.
I know my parents will be missing him a whole bunch. Praying God surrounds Loretta and all the family in His presence and comfort.

Mr Slocum was my drivers ed teacher and a saint. When I had an opportunity to speak to him about 10 years ago, he was just as amazing and patient as he was then. God made one of a kind right there. I am blessed to have had him pass through my life. Condolences to his family and friends.

Joan Stocker says
Our condolences to all of the family.
The Stocker family was so lucky to have Harold and Loretta as neighbors for so many years. They were a great part of “the village” that helped raise our children.
I was one of the lucky people who had Harold as a drivers Ed teacher. He was so good that he survived teaching me to keep it on the road.
We all have fond memories of Harold in his garden and of his loving and concerned ways of being a neighbor.
We will never forget you Harold.

I just saw this. So sorry for your loss. Mr. Slocum was my math teacher at Helena High. He was such a kind, patient person to this math-challenged girl.
