I worked with Harry at the ASARCO plant in East Helena, summers after graduating from Helena High in the mid-Sixties. I thought I was a pretty tough kid until I was sent to work on the High Line, which was railroad tracks suspended high above giant ore bins. We unloaded 8 railroad cars a day with shovels. It didn’t take Harry and the other fellas to show me was tough really was. But Harry and those guys were good to me and I always respected them for what they could do with a square-nosed shovel and a broom.
