In Memory Of

Hattie Mae Christiansen, 85, of Helena

September 6, 1928 – August 13, 2014

Hattie Christiansen left this world August 13, 2014. In her final days she was at home surrounded by family and friends.

Hattie was born in Hardin, Montana on September 6, 1928 to Roy and Maime James.

Hattie was a modest person and did not want family and friends to “make a fuss” yet it is impossible not to rejoice in the life of a woman who touched the hearts of so many. By age 13, she was raising her younger brothers, and then went on to raise her children, and all of her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was a kind and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Hattie was an amazing woman who always made you feel welcomed and at ease in her presence.

She is preceded in death by Bill, her husband of 56 years, as well as her parents, brothers Roy Jr. and Joe, sister Alice, step-son Billy, her great granddaughter Sarah Lynn and great grandson JT, and many dear friends.

She is survived by her daughters Linda and Deborah(Bob), her brothers Charlie (Katie), Jim (Connie), her sister Dorothy, grandchildren Shannon (Chad), Pamela (Jessica), Ryan (Tandi), her great grandchildren Shea, Jacob, David and their partners, and youngest great-grandchildren Malachai, Aidan, Walker and Isaiah and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was expecting her first great-great-grandchild in September. Hattie had many lifelong friends and will be missed by special friends Sharon Brown, Leona Williams, Lucy Small, Gladys Herman, and Janean Meacham.

Hattie will be greatly missed and will be in our hearts forever.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 19th, at Resurrection Cemetery. Please visit below offer the family a condolence or to share a memory of Hattie.

Debbie and Linda, my heart goes out to you guys. Hattie was a special person to me. I was able to talk to her about my mom which gave me a lot of comfort. She also was able to put up with my dad which gave him a lot of comfort (Stan Pratt) (LOL and made him wear clean clothes) You guys are in my thoughst and prayers. As you know the hurt and pain of losing someone close never goes away just dimms a little, hold your moms memories close.

Linda, I am so sorry to hear about your Mom passing. I have fond memories of her from my stays in the big white house in Hardin! She kept us on a short leash in those high school days…but we still managed to have lots of fun.
My Mom just turned 93 and still living on her own but I know I will face this sooner than later too…..my thoughts and prayers are for you and your family.
    My condolences,
    Jacque Barnett Dexter

Janean kept in touch with me the last few days by e-mail. Hattie and I were pure James girls when we got to visiting. You’ll know what that means. I sure enjoyed my times with your Mom when I came to Helena for the Gov’s Conferences. Hattie thought a lot of my Dad. They were close cousins. I wrote in my news column in the Hardin paper this week to your family. This is part of what I feel: The girls’ inheritance would be one of pure unending and unselfish love to family. Love to All. Cousin, Joni

We loved Hattie. She was such a wonderful friend and a neighborhood grandmother to all of our kids. She was a giving and caring person who shared her time and talent unselfishly with others, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I wish I had seen more of her after we moved across town. You are all in our prayers.
