“Fritz” Howard Dullum died peacefully on May 26, 2015, surrounded by his family, at age 92.
He was born to Eva Colleen Fraser and Eugene Hector Dullum on April 3, 1923, in East Helena. He was preceded in death by his parents and also his brothers, Jerald Fraser [U.S. Navy, U.S.S. Arizona] and Henry Eugene [U.S. Army 607 Tank Destroyer] and grandson Darrel Eugene Dullum.
Fritz is survived by his wife of 67 years, Julia Rae Dullum, and his children – Jerald H (Carol), June Jacobson (Loren), Irene Hoyt (Craig), Carol Lizotte (Alan) and Don Alan (Pam). He also has ten grandchildren and ten great grandsons.
He admired his mother’s cooking and gardening which inspired lifelong interests. He loved cooking for family and friends and hosting family gatherings. To make the grandkids smile and laugh he would wink, joke, make funny faces or let them comb his hair in ridiculous styles.
Julia taught him to dance and he enjoyed it so much that when the music started he asked someone to dance for every song. His hobbies also included fishing, hunting, traveling, golfing, bowling, playing cards and projects of every kind. Fritz also loved cars, especially red ones. He was a good mechanic, a talent he passed on to his sons and grandsons.
He attended school in East Helena and graduated from Helena High then worked as an assayer at the smelter in East Helena for 43 years. After retiring he took to wearing a necktie almost every day. Some were traditional, some seasonal, but most were just plain fun. They were great conversation starters. He got a kick out of making people smile and he was as good with one-liners as he was with ties.
He was a 50-year member of Morning Star #5 Algeria Shrine, the Royal Order of Jesters and the York Rite Masons. While in the Shrine he was involved in the Marching Patrol, the Wrecking Crew, the Drum Corp, and was in charge of the Red Room for many years. He enjoyed his travels to many towns and cities marching in parades.
Please join us in a celebration of his life at a reception immediate following the service at the Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home.

Fritz and I grew up together in East Helena in the 1920 & 1930 era.
We went to school there and into High School in Helena.
His son Danny and my son Mark were good friends also, and those two played “pranks” . Some not so good.
So long pal.
