Hud Paul Bannon, 54 years old, passed away unexpectedly at his home early Saturday morning January 26, 2019, just 4 days away from what would have been his 55th birthday celebration.
He was born January 30,1964 in Livingston, MT. During his infant years, he moved with his family to Salt Lake City, Utah, Laramie, Wyoming, San Jose, California before they settled in Fairbanks, Alaska for a few years.
He started school in North Pole, Alaska, right next to the Santa Claus House. The family returned to Montana in 1972, where he attended Clancy Elementary and Jefferson High School.
He started his working years at Associated Food Stores while still in high school. It was about this same time that he started his passion for buying and selling numerous cars/trucks/motorcycles/ATVs, boats, campers, etc.
He also worked at Hap’s, Double Stud Construction, Silver Star and most recently, Papa Ray’s. Hud loved and adored his friends Quin and Amanda Sather. His entire family thanks you for the outpouring of love and support you have shown them through this difficult time.
Hud is survived by his beautiful and loving wife, Sherry Rushford-Bannon, whom he married in a romantic beach ceremony in the cayes of Belize on March 31, 2018. They had gone there with their friends, who were renewing their wedding vows.
Hud is survived by his parents, Bruce and MaryAnn Bannon of Montana City, Montana, Jessica McAlpin (Curt McAlpin) of East Helena, Montana, Heidi Bannon (Jennifer Lloyd) of Eugene, Oregon, his Uncle Baby Josh Bannon (Sue Halls-Bannon), Helena, Montana, Cousin John Kinnick (Judy Adams) of Montana City, MT and so many beautiful nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Hud embraced life, and all that it had to offer. His many adventures of motorcycle riding, rafting, camping with friends and family…Road trips in the Catalina with the top down!!! Trips to the Deerborn on Labor Day! 4th of July celebration Pool Party! The very special birthday party dinners for Hud, Bruce and John! The yearly golf trip with “the guys”!
He always created an atmosphere for adventure. Anyone that was willing to go along for the ride, jump, swim, ski, raft, four-wheelin’, breakdowns, and dig-outs was more than welcome to come along.
A celebration of Hud’s life will take place 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 30th at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave. A reception will follow the celebration of life at the VFW, 117 W. Main St. in East Helena.
Hud was celebrated on this day for coming into this world 55 years ago. We will celebrate him today as we send him to keep company with the angels. Jesus brought the wine, Hud brought the beer.
A GoFundMe account has been set up for Hud Bannon Funeral Fund to help the family with the funeral expenses.

To all of Huds family and close friends,
We have definitely lost another good man, way too damn early! I recently talked to Hudley and said “so I heard ya got hitched”, and with that the big smile and smirk came to his face and he said “why YES, yes, I did” and his face just lit up. He shared his story of everyone going to Balize and the fun you all shared. The wedding was his highlight. Sherri my heart aches for you. No matter who you talked to, if they knew Hud they had a good story and a laugh to go with it. You will forever be a person that is missed dearly and thought about often my friend. You were a good man while on earth, so I know that you will be welcomed with open arms upon your arrival in Heaven. God Speed my friend and we will keep the light shining in our hearts for you, AND a cold one to toast! Promise!
Amy Marshall says
To Sherry and Family,
You could always count on a good laugh with Hud. He had a great personality that was perfect for behind the bar. Many were so happy for Hud and Sherry when they joined together as a couple. You could see he was a happy soul. Sherry, this is very heartbreaking and I hope you can find peace knowing Hud loved you and always remember the great times you had together. There will be many stories of Hud to last a lifetime!
My love and prayers,
Amy Marshall

So incredibly sad to lose a friend like Hud, who was larger than life but also SO full of life. He was always positive, always happy, always had that signature twinkle and an enthusiastic response of “Livin’ the dream, sweetheart!” when you asked him how he was. Sherry, I’ve never seen him so happy or so in love as he was with you. I’m so glad you found each other, and I’m so very sorry he’s gone. Sending love, and extending arms for hugging whenever you may need them. xo
Denise and John says
Bruce, MaryAnn, Sherry, I’m so, so sorry. Hud, was one of the first neighbors we met when we moved into the neighborhood. Hud helped our mail lady get out of ditch when she slid in from all the snow. I remember he was wearing shorts and it was freezing cold out. I will always remember his great smile and making the best pizzas around. My heart just breaks for you all. Anything you need you just call, we will be there for you.
Jerome Tuss says

Such sad news. I had the pleasure of working for Hud at the Silver Star when I first moved to Helena. That *twinkle* in his eye, that many people speak of, was a very real thing. Such a happy guy with a heartwarming smile… My condolences to all that knew Hud and especially those close to him. He will be remembered.
