Jack W. McDonnell, age 88, of Helena

Jack Wilson McDonnell, age 88, of Helena, passed away February 21, 2016 at a care facility in Great Falls, Montana.

Jack was born June 7, 1927 in Taylor, Texas to Henry and Dixie (Buchanan) McDonnell. He graduated high school and served our country in the United States Army for 20 years before being honorably discharged in Fort Bragg, NC as a Master Sergeant. He was a Radioman in the service.

After being discharged, Jack worked as a Lineman for the Power Company until his retirement. He married June E. Phillips on June 17, 2000 at the East Park Villas in Helena. He loved to hunt, fish, golf and go walking in the hills. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and the Elk Foundation and was a member of the VFW.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Tracy McDonnell. He is survived by his wife, June McDonnell of Helena, MT; daughters, Tina McDonnell and Susan William Whitehead of Greensboro, NC, and Sharon Armstrong of Petal, MS. Jack is also survived by grandchildren, John Puckett, Trent and Chaz McDonnell, Eric and Laura Whitehead, Amanda, Christy, and David Armstrong Jr., and Taylor and Ian McDonnell.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A reception will follow the service in the Banquet Hall of Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will be held at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Harrison following the reception.
