Jacque Ellen Hermanson
September 3, 1927 – January 13, 2019
Jacque passed away in the early morning of January 13, 2019. In the days preceding her death she was in the company of family.
Jacque was born 91 years ago in Helena to Maude and Merle Carpenter. During the big 1935 Helena earthquake she was knocked off a stool as she was helping with home decorating. She was proud to grow up in the house her father had built. She enjoyed climbing on Sugarloaf hill. She went to Jefferson and Central schools and graduated from Helena High School.
Her early work experience was as a waitress at the Wishbone Cafe. While working at the cafe she met a cab driver that became her husband, Alfred “ Hermie” Hermanson. They were married for over 65 years. They had one son, Mike.
During her life, she lived in many parts of Montana and a few years in Gillette Wyoming. She returned to Helena seven years ago to be near family. She was fortunate to live in Helena with Mike, his wife June and their children’s families.
Her pleasures in life included games with family, dogs, garage sales, puzzles and reading books.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Jean, and husband Hermie. She is survived by her son Mike (June), her grandchildren Gene (Jen) and Chanda (Phillip) and great grandchildren Ellee, Corgan, and Sawyer. She also survived by two brothers Jim (Phyllis) and John (Arlene) and many nieces and nephews.
Many thanks to the staff of St. Peter’s Hospital, Cooney Home, and St. Peter’s Hospice for the care given to Jacque. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jacque’s name to: Montana Youth Leadership Forum, 1617 Euclid Ave. Suite #1, Helena, MT 59601. I had a great visit with Jaque 2 days before passing. We had a great talk about her life and the joy was her Greatgrandchildren. They were the joy of her life she would say over and over. Big smile in her face when we spoke of her Son Mike and her grandchildren (Mije, Chanda) She had lots of smiles when I left. I am glad she opened her heart to my husband and I when we went to her place for 4th July and other times when I was at her home.

Mike, June, Chanda, and Gene – I am so sorry for your loss. Ellee, Corgan and Sawyer, remember all the fun times you had with Grandma Jacque; she will stay in your hearts forever. And don’t forget to blow her a kiss when you’re on the playground looking up at Sugarloaf hill.

My deepest sympathy to hear about your lost. Seems as though there is such a short time to be with the people we love, so we need to make memories while they are here.
