BRANNING, James, age 71 of Helena passed away December 10, 2020. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 25th at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison.

I miss Jim so much. Often I thought of him as Superboy since He was so strong. I couldn’t call him my little brother even though I’m older. He was bigger than me. I never took any family member’s death as hard as I took his and I knew it was coming months before it did. It seemed so unreal at first. We were different in many ways, but we were brothers. A tie that goes far deeper than I realized. 71 years wasn’t enough. I hope to see him again when he is resurrected.

I am thankful that my life has been blessed with a brother like Jim. Heading for the mountains or the hot springs or even out to dinner with Jim was always an adventure that enriched my life. We were the best of friends and I miss him deeply.

I just learned of Jim’s death. I worked for the City of Helena Engineering Dept for years and worked on many projects with Jim. He was one of the nicest, easy going (not to mention competent) contractors I ever worked with. It is really sad to know he is not longer with us.

I knew Jim at Bryant School, Helena Junior High School and Helena Senior High School. Jim was just an all around nice guy and a pleasure to know.
