In Memory Of

James L. Bright, age 90 of Helena

November 11, 1928 – March 23, 2019

On March 23, 2019, James Linden Bright passed into eternity. At the time of his death, he was with his brother, Michael and Michael’s wife, Valeri. James was born November 11, 1928, in Helena, MT to Cecil Ray & Ella May Amelia (Cole) Bright. James was the third of what would become a family of fourteen children.

At the age of 16, during World War II, too young to join the Army, James went to California to join the Merchant Marines. During this time, he made three trips across the Pacific, delivering aviation fuel to forward U.S. bases.

At the age of 17, James joined The Army and served in Europe. He also served the Korean War and during the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably discharged with several citations.

James is survived by his brothers, Michael P. Bright and Gary R. Bright; and sister, Diane K Wegner (Bright).

My goodness, just the other day I wondered how Jimmy was getting along. I used to see him in The Nugget off and on. He always asked about Rita and my brother, Sam Bakke. On 03/28/19 Sam will have been gone a year. Praying they’ll be reunited with our Heavenly Father! Jimmy lived a full life; God bless him and all the Bright family! With love,

Hey Uncle Jim… I’m sorry I missed a chance to talk to you at my Dad’s funeral last March. You were a good man. I’ll always remember the great stories about you from my Mom and Dad. They always enjoyed stopping by to visit you on their trips into Helena. I will offer up a Mass Intention for you at the St. Helena Cathedral. May the good lord watch over your soul until we all meet again Uncle Jim…
