In Memory Of

James LuVern Kroll

March 3, 1958 – February 14, 2011

James LuVern Kroll 52, of Anchorage Alaska passed away Monday, February 14, 2011 at Providence Hospital in Anchorage Alaska after a short but courageous battle with end stage liver failure.

Jim was born on March 3, 1958 @ ST John’s Hospital in Helena MT to Vern and Winona (Boe) Kroll. Jim was raised in Boulder Mt, and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1976. After graduation, Jim traveled and held various jobs before going to Anchorage in 1990 and worked for the US Postal Service. It was in anchorage where Jim met his future bride, Karen Kempton, and they were married on July 29th, 2000 in Helena MT.

Jim was truly a free spirit and lived the way he wanted. He had a great connection with kids and animals, due to his huge heart and compassionate understanding. Jim was an avid fisherman and had many great times while “wetting a line.”

His quirky sense of humor and unique vocabulary was sure to put a smile on the face of everyone he met and knew. Jim enjoyed long rides in the mountains, nicknames, his cats and birds, camping, the Seattle Seahawks, but most of all, family. One of his biggest joys was when his daughter Felicia was born, he loved being a dad. Even though Jim lived in Anchorage for the past 20 years Jim’s final request was to be laid to rest in Montana which he’s always considered to be his home. Jim will be forever missed. (GONE FISHING)

Jim is survived by his wife Karen of Anchorage; daughter, Felicia Kroll of Anchorage; parents, Vern and Winona Kroll of Boulder; brothers, Mike (Kristie) Kroll, John (Raylene) Kroll, Joey Kroll, Dan (Janna) Kroll; sisters, Verna Kroll and Lori Kroll. Jim is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved as his own and a very large extended family and abundance of friends who also brought enjoyment to his life.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb 26 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, 214 S. Elder Street in Boulder. Viewing hours will be prior to the Mass beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Boulder Cemetery. A reception will be held in the Social Center of the church immediately following the burial service. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the Jim Kroll Memorial Fund C/O First Boulder Valley Bank P.O. Box 207 Boulder, MT 59632. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, Helena. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.aswfuneralhome.com.

    karen and all of jim’s family, i am so sorry for the loss of jim. i know that it is a huge loss for more than just his family but all his friends also. jim, always brought out a smile and a laugh on those rough days of going or being at work. we had a deep appreciation and closeness being born and raised in montana. i know that jim had a real rough battle to the end. i know that he is happy and healthy never to have to go through pain that he experienced here on earth. jim, rest in peace and god speed. until we meet again. love ya jimbo!

    My heart goes out to you at this difficult time. May you find comfort from the promises made by our loving Father. Psalm 34:18 says he is near to those broken at heart and saves those crushed in spirit. Revlation 21:4 mentions a time when He will wipe all our tears away and death and sorrow and pain will be no more. May these thoughts from the Bible bring you hope.

    My deepest sympathy to the entire Kroll family. I worked with Jim many many years ago at Montana Developmental Center. We became quick friends and I see from his obituary that he still had his quirky sense of humor which I loved. He was a great friend, hard worker and made a sometimes very hard job fun and bearable! I have tried to find him many times so I was very sad to see that he passed away. Although I hadn’t seen him in many years, he always held a special place in my heart. I especially loved his laugh and care free attitude! I’m sure his life was a life lived well!!

    With friendship and my deepest sympathy to his parents, siblings, friends, spouse and especially his precious daughter;
