James Alfred Marino was born November 12, 1937 to Vincent (James) Marino and Mary Couture Marino. He was the second of four children. He had a twin brother Charles, older brother Ronald and little sister Kathleen.
“Jimmy” was a sweet young child, who always was a good student. He went on to college and became a Quality Control Engineer. He had a long career with Grumman Aerospace on Long Island, NY. Jimmy worked on the Lem vehicle, which astronauts used on the moon. Jimmy met all of the original astronauts, and so many that came after.
Jimmy married Sonja Anderson April 26, 1958. It was a long, happy marriage, with three beautiful sons, James Jr., Andrew, and Thomas. There are now four wonderful grandchildren, James, Gabrielle, Ali, and Colter. They all brought Jimmy and Sonja a lot of happiness.
Jimmy had 75 happy years, before he developed Alzheimer’s. He was kept home as long as possible, then went to Cooney Convalescent Home. He was well cared for by all the wonderful nurses and care takers at Cooney. He will be missed by all his family and friends.
A memorial service celebrating James’ life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25th at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave. A reception will follow the service in the social hall of the funeral home. Memorials in James’ name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 7th floor, New York, NY 10001.

Tom and family, it was an honor to have known Jim.
Jim was a very special person and I’m glad I got to spend time with him over the last 15 years. We had some great conversations and disagreements (but, they were always interesting and enjoyable).
Sincerely,
Keith Blount
