James R. McHenry, age 74, of Helena, passed away April 10, 2016 in Helena.
James was born in Livingston, MT on September 26, 1941 to William R. McHenry and Edna (Palmer) McHenry. As a young man, Jimmy worked at the Mattson Sawmill in Townsend. Jim worked as a bartender at O’Toole’s, the Western Bar, and Dapper Dan’s, always having a story to tell. He also worked for the Helena School District for 15 years and became fondly known as “crankcase” to the kids before retiring. His favorite pastime was fishing and hunting.
Jim is survived by a daughter, Beverly; granddaughter, Tomisue; grandsons, Cooper and Tyler; brothers, Ronald of Chinook and Wallace (Arlene) of Conrad; sister, Linda McHenry (Terry Bennett) of Helena; sister-in-law, Coy McHenry of Helena; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave., with a reception to follow the service in the Banquet Hall of the funeral home. Burial will be held at Deep Creek Cemetery, Townsend, after the reception.

I knew and liked Jim, since the early 60s. The whole McHenry family were great people. His brother Kenny and i were real close friends. We played on a championship softball team, and drank a little beer together. Never met a McHenry i didnt like.God bless them all.
