James “Jim” Robert Reynolds, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2020. Beloved husband of Evelyn Virginia “Gin” (Lohrer) of 54 years. Survived by children Melissa Reynolds, James (Bonnie) Reynolds Jr, Kimberly (Marcus) Dew and grandchildren Courtney and Tyler Dew. Further survived by other family and friends. James will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
James served in the military for over 25 years. After retiring, he returned to Montana where he worked for Jefferson County and eventually retired to the ranch in Clancy.
James loved to travel and while in the military explored many countries and states taking in a vast array of landmarks, as well as, local customs and cultures including volksmarches in Germany. After retirement he continued his love of travel simply by getting in the truck and starting to drive. Often on these trips his passengers would have the pleasure of listening to stories of his youth.
James’ greatest joy was being outdoors. In his younger years he was an avid hunter and fisherman. His adventures included hunting deer, antelope and elk in Montana, hunting caribou and catching halibut in Alaska, and even frogging in California. Regardless of where he lived, if there was a creek, river, lake or ocean you’d see Jim trying to catch a fish in it.
James also enjoyed making crafts. He made beautiful latch-hook rugs, stained glass lamps, ceramics, beaded earrings, and polished stones for jewelry. He also enjoyed wood working and made amazing ornaments, puzzles, and his famous “whirly birds”.
Viewing will be at 12:00 pm, Thursday, November 5th, 2020 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral home, 3750 N. Montana Ave in Helena. A funeral service will follow the viewing at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials directed to the Fort Harrison Liberty House, Voluntary Services Office, PO Box 167, Fort Harrison, MT 59636.
