July 30, 1940 – May 18, 2011

HELENA- Richard “Dick” James Bouchee, 70, of Helena, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at St. Peter’s Hospital. Dick was born on July 3, 1940 to James Rodney and Cecil Bouchee of Livingston, MT.

Dick spent his early years growing up in Livingston, where he excelled in many sports, especially baseball. Dick married Janet Thomas on March 18, 1961 in Billings, MT. Dick and Jan spent the next 50 years of marriage creating a wonderful life and family while moving to Helena in 1977.

Dick started his pressman apprenticeship work following high school. His career in printing spanned almost fifty years starting at the Billings Gazette, Western Printing in Billings, State Publishing, Century Printing, and Allegra Printing in Helena. He was a talented and highly respected press operator and finishing expert. Dick had a state-wide reputation for quality work and equipment knowledge.

Dick and Jan also enjoyed square dancing for over 30 years. Throughout his life, Dick enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, sports, and spending time with his family. He also had a passion for being a chef, cooking, and managing the Me and Stan’s Executive Inn Restaurant in Jackson Hole, WY.

He enjoyed coaching and watching his children and grandchildren as they progressed through the years with anything they participated in. Over the years, he rarely missed any performances and sports events that his children and grandchildren participated in. He taught all of his children and grandchildren to fish and enjoy the outdoors. He will be remembered for his funny stories and jokes he always told.

Dick is survived by his wife, Janet; two children, Lisa (Rick) Grady of Canyon Creek and Lance (Suzy) Bouchee of Helena; seven grandchildren, Jeremy (Kayty) Grady of Kalispell, Katie (Bobby Selby) Grady of Helena, Rebecca and Chay Bouchee of Helena, Mike Bartlett of Helena, Riley and Brandon (Jacque) Wegner of Billings and one great-grandchild, Ava Jo Grady of Kalispell. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Jo Thelen of Billings and Shirley Thomas of Worden, MT; brother-in-law, Stan Colborn of Ammon, ID; and numerous other family members.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Betty Bouchee who passed away last year.

A memorial service celebrating Dick’s life will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home. A reception will be held at Knights of Columbus Hall on Airport Road immediately following the memorial service. I was so sorry to hear of Richards passing. I only worked for him at State Pub for a short while and found him to be a great person who opened his home up to me while I was there. To Janet, Lisa, and Lance, I will never forget him and the time I spent with your family. Take care. Carl

Glenn and I pray for all the best for Jan and the family.
I am so glad we had the short time at the reunion to get reacquainted, and even though time takes some of the best first, we know he’s resting in a place of beauty and joy and peace.
