Jean M. Schmit passed away July 31, 2025, at home with family and friends by bedside.
She was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Edward and Clara Graham on June 13, 1936. She married Donald R. Schmit on February 19, 1955, at St. Mary’s Church in St. Cloud, Minnesota. They worked in Worthington and St. Cloud Minnesota. They moved to Helena Montana in 1960 where they worked until retirement.
She was a very active and talented in many fields, including seamstress, knitting and crocheting and an accomplished pianist and painter. She worked many jobs in Helena; including Tempo, Complete Angler, Hennessey’s, and retired from the County Health Department.
She and her husband raised 4 beautiful children in the Helena area. She loved camping, especially at the lake. She will be greatly missed by all who shared her life and love.
Jean was preceded in death by her sister, Karen Robbins Goedker. She is survived by her husband Don “Pops” of the family home; daughter, Bobbi (David) Lambertson, son, Monte (Kelly) Schmit, son, Mike (Cassandra) Schmit, daughter Debi (Nick) Hammen; three grandchildren, Jake, Janelle and Rachel.

I worked with Jean at Tempo – she one of the nicest people I have ever met. I was a young single mother and many times she gave me encouragement when I needed it. I loved her laugh and wild hair!
