Jean Yvonne (Manion) Monaco was born in Belfield, North Dakota on December 12th, 1933 to James and Rose (Jaros) Manion. She passed away on March 29th, 2025 in Helena, Montana.
Upon her mother’s death in 1937, Jean went to live with her uncle Henry and aunt Claire Schroeder and family. They moved from Belfield to Anaconda, Montana in 1941. She attended schools in Anaconda.
She met and married Angelo Monaco and married him in 1951. They were blessed with five children; Loran, Shirley, Tony, Patty and Dan. She went to work in 1961 at Galen Hospital as a Ward Secretary. She retired in 1993 after 28 years of service.
She enjoyed ceramics, puzzles, country music, playing cards and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren in many different activities. She loved attending Galen Annual Retirement Dinners. She loved animals and she loved going on mountain rides in the jeep with her husband. She especially loved watching her Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Marines and professional tennis players play. She loved going to Loran and Patti’s to watch the river go by. She also enjoyed listening to many family stories and the laughter that often filled the air. She was most proud that she had the highest levels on her Ipad.
She is survived by her sons, Loran (Patti Sue) Monaco of Adams, Oregon, Tony (Patti Gail) Monaco of Wisdom, Montana, Dan (Pam) Monaco of Billings, Montana and her daughter, Patty Jean (Dan) Stoner of Helena, Montana. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Wise of Meridian, Idaho; her sister-in-laws, Lelani Schroeder of Deer Lodge Valley, Montana and Jean Buhl of Libby, Montana; brother-in-law, Tom (Rikki) Monaco of Hamiliton, Montana; her grandchildren, Shawn (Corrine) Monaco, Lori (Josh) Browning, Kevin (Kezlee) Monaco, Michael (Jordan) Monaco, Lynsey (Ryan) Elliott, Trisha (Kyle) Klock, Valory (Cole) Hoefle, Dani (Wes) Feist, Ryan (Kacy) Monaco, Andrew (Audrey) Monaco, Sarah (Gunner) Hofer; her great-grandchildren, Dylan and Dayton Monaco, Tabor and Trayson Mills, Austin, Tynlee, and Hallee Monaco, Blake and Avery Elliott, Keira and Kellen Klock, Abbi, Alivia, and Alden Hoefle, Jaxsen Green and Trenten Feist; many nieces and nephews and her special friend Juanita Weist.
She is preceded in death by her husband Angelo Monaco. They were married for 67 years. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley, her grandson, Robert, her parents; Jim and Rose Manion and Henry and Claire Schroeder; her parents-in-law, Antonio and Concetta Monaco; her brothers, James (Harriet) Manion, Tom Schroeder, and Don Schroeder; her brothers-in-laws, John (Sara) Monaco and Jim Wise; her sisters-in-law, Ann (Clint) Quirk, Marie (Jack) Porter, and Carmel Wilton; and many more family members and furry friends.
No services will be held at this time. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Angelo and her daughter, Shirley Ann. We have been blessed to have our mom for a long time. We consider her a real treasure and are so thankful that our God shared her with us. A special thank you to daughter Patty Jean and husband Dan along with son Loran and his wife Patti Sue for their devoted loving care provided through her sunset years.
