In Memory Of

Jeanette DeWolf, age 80, of Helena

February 26, 1939 – July 2, 2019

Jeanette K DeWolf, 80, passed away July 2, 2019 after a long hard battle fought with cancer.

Jeanette was born in Whitehall, Montana to Herb and Minnie Carver and was 1 of 3 children, sisters Barbara and Marlene. She grew up in Montana, traveling from mining camp to mining camp as her father was a hard rock miner. Her mother was employed for many years at the Parrot.

Jeanette enjoyed traveling, riding horses, her dogs, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and crafts. She was involved in rescuing Chinese Crested dogs and very active in organizing and planning high school class reunions.

Jeanette married George DeWolf, one of the “By Golly Boys” of Union Market fame in 1973. They enjoyed traveling and spending time at the cabin on Canyon Ferry Lake.

She is survived by her two children, Vicki DeYoung Bartel of Fallon, Nevada and Dirk DeYoung of Helena, 3 nieces, Patty Kingen of New Mexico, Tina (Pat) Screnar, and Lyra Powell both of Helena, nephews Mike McLaughlin of Livingston, and Ray (Alexis) Powell of Helena; great niece Kristin (Chris) Dulaney of Bozeman and their children Tyler and Mackenna, and great nephew Ryan Screnar of Helena. George’s children Sue DeWolf of Butte, Joe (Nikki) DeWolf of Montana City, and Kelly DeWolf of Clancy; grandchildren Jenifer DeWolf of Helena, Jason DeWolf of Sacramento, CA, Mike Keck (Angela) of Dillon; and great grandchildren Seely, Faith, Chance, Kendall, and Kaitlyn.

The family would like to thank Dr. Weiner and the St. Peter’s Cancer Treatment Center staff for their care and compassion during her battle with cancer and the nurses on the Oncology floor of St. Peters Hospital who came to know Jeanette and took exceptional care of her during her many stays there.

A memorial service celebrating Jeanette’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 12th at Life Covenant Church, 800 N. Hoback St. in Helena. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeanette’s name are suggested to the Lewis & Clark Humane Society, P.O. When the Shipyards were shuttered at the close of WWII, my family moved onto 11th Avenue in Helena; that would have been the fall of 1945. Jeanette (Carver) was the first girl I met who lived just a few houses down the street. She was smarter than I was, as she advanced from the first grade to the second, I didn’t. We had walked to school together that first year; I recall that I was quite fond of her. My family moved to a different neighborhood the following year, but I would see her occasionally after that; all good memories of a fine person.

My condolences to her son Dirk and family.

I am so sorry to here of Jeanette’ s passing. She was a good friend of my grandma Shirley and that lady always spoke her mind. One reason I loved her. She asked me to take her for her first tattoo and wound up getting her nose pierced as well that day. I am going to miss her. Sending love light and prayers to her family.

Dear Loved ones of Jeanette. I’m sad to hear that Jeanette lost her battle with the terrible “Big C” I’m certain she fought long & hard to Win & she wanted to be healthy & live a longer life. It’s hard to understand why our medical professionals can’t seem to figure out the long awaited cure for All cancer flairs. You will be missed Dear Jeanette. Farewell.

Dear family of Jeanette sending thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We knew Jeanette through a friendship she shared with Glenna Buck. Jeanette was such a kind, caring, and strong woman and it was an honor to know her and spend time with her. What a beautiful soul and she will be greatly missed.

My heartfelt sympathy to Jeanette’s family. I worked with her back in the 70’s. We had fun times at the Rialto after work and at her cabin. I ran into her a few years ago at the Veterinarian ‘s office. She recognized me right away. So good to see her. She was her fun bubbly self.

    Jeanette’s Family,
Hearing of Jeanette’s passing brought sadness to our hearts, Jeanette was such a beautiful, joyful person, that you could just not love! Although we did not get together often, when we did we enjoyed every minute being around her! Heaven has certainly gained another angel to it’s choirs. Hard for us, but knowing where she is now makes that a little easier. Rest in peace dear cousin and enjoy the reunion with our family. Love Tom&Sandi Salvagni
