Jennifer Anne Beausoleil (Jenn) died unexpectedly from heart failure on September 19, 2016, with her daughter by her side. She was 38 years old.
Jenn was born September 22, 1977 in Great Falls, Montana to birthmother Kari McLean. She was loving placed for adoption with her parents Joe and Helen Beausoleil days after her birth where they brought her home to Helena to live with her big sister, Kristan.
Jenn’s childhood was filled with adventure. She loved to ride her bike and run around the neighborhood with close friends. She chased butterflies, ran lemonade stands and played outside until the sun would begin to set. She had an infectious laugh and smile that could light up a room. It was in her early years cooking with her Mom that she discovered her passion for food, making pies and elaborate cakes for her family’s birthdays.
She graduated from Helena High School in 1996 and shortly thereafter set off for Seattle, WA to attend the Culinary Institute of Art. There she earned straight A’s and was elected Class President. Jenn loved working as a chef, her passion for creating good, beautiful food was the highlight of her career. She worked at multiple restaurants in Seattle where she created signatures dishes each with her special ability to not only make the meal taste good, but also a work of art.
Jenn married her high school sweetheart, Bridger Burt on November 29, 2002. Shortly thereafter, their daughter Ella Soleil Burt was born. Jenn took to motherhood with ease. She chose to step away from her career to be a full time mom. It was the realization of becoming a mother, and the importance of family, that pulled her and Bridger back home to Montana, where they could raise their daughter around grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jenn and Bridger welcomed their second child, Finnley Bridger Burt in 2009. He was the apple of her eye. She often said the best accomplishments of her life were her children. She enjoyed watching Ella’s ballet recitals and Finnley’s talent shows. She spent much time helping at her children’s preschool centers and schools.
It was during this time that Jenn began to struggle with addiction and mental health issues. She sought assistance in many forms. She overcame multiple obstacles but peace always seemed to elude her. She and Bridger divorced in 2014, determined to raise their children as friends.
The past year, Jenn suffered from a serious health issue related to addiction. After a close brush with death, she was determined to regain her health and refocus her energy into her children. She set about making things right, both physically and with Ella and Finn. She spent the last few months of her life rebuilding the bonds of love with her family.
Jenn was preceded in death by her birth mother, Kari McLean. She is survived by her daughter Ella Burt, son Finnley Burt, parents Helen and Joe Beausoleil, sister Kristan Barbour, brother-in-law Troy Barbour, nephews Holter and Deakon Barbour and her birth grandmother Vonnie McLean, multiple aunts, uncles, cousins and many wonderful friends.

I am just heartbroken to hear of Jenn’s passing. I am having trouble writing without crying. Jenn was like a little sister to me and we shared so much with each other. I have lost a true friend but I know that she is in a happy place and is probably sharing her smiles and laughter, as she so easily did with everyone that surrounded her. Jen was one of our favorites! She was a good friend of our daughter Maurisa. They met when they started playing softball and remained friends for years. Jen spent Memorial Day weekend with Buddy and I in 2014. She was so much fun the entire 3 days. We all did yard work, barbecued and visited the Veterans cemetery. We talked and talked about life, family and all the struggles we all face everyday. She was a beautiful soul and adored her kids. We’re so sorry for your loss! She’s left a great legacy in Ella and Finn.
