Jerome “Joe” Dronen, age 76, of Helena formerly of Anaconda

On August 4, 2013 Jerome (Joe) Dronen, cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend left us to go home.  Born in Sharon, North Dakota in 1937, he graduated High School and entered the Navy in 1954.  He served on the USS Sperry stationed in San Diego, CA where he met and married his wife Linda.  They were blessed with two children:  Lori Dronen Thompson and Douglas Dronen.  After many trips back to the mountains of Montana to visit they decided to move to Anaconda and raise their family.  Joe purchased Blattner Plumbing, later changing the name to Dronen Plumbing, which he ran until his retirement.  In 1998 they retired to Canyon Ferry Lake in Helena, Montana, where they enjoyed time with their kids, grandkids, and friends, boating and fishing.  Joe spent the last four years coping with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.  He faced his last years with dignity, humor and a love for life.  He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Linda; daughter and son-in law Lori and Kyle Thompson; son and daughter-in-law Douglas and Terri Schalk Dronen;  grandchildren: Kelby Thompson and fiancé Meghan Andersen, Karli Thompson Roadarmel and husband Mike, and Abigail Dronen; siblings Gerald Dronen, Sylvia Erickson and Marlys Moore; aunt Margaret Wood, lifetime companions brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ronald and Jeanette Hume; and good friends Richard Johnson and Marie Johnson.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 8^th, between 6:00-7:00 pm at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home in Helena.  Funeral services will be Friday, August 9^th, at 1:00 pm at Longfellow Finnegan Funeral Home in Anaconda. Memorials honoring Joe may be sent to the PSP Foundation at www.psp.org.
