In Memory Of

Jerry Edward Hennings Sr., age 68, of Helena

September 6, 1944 – October 8, 2012

Jerry Edward Hennings, age 68 of Helena, passed away October 8, 2012 at the Benefis Hospital in Great Falls.  Jerry was born in Helena to Wilbur and June (Zeigler) Hennings on September 6, 1944.

He was a soldier for our country in the Vietnam War.  Jerry loved all people no matter who they were. Jerry gave all he had with an unselfish heart. He loved his guitar and wrote many songs, which included his special gospel favorite, “Morning Star”. Jerry taught his sister Carol how to drive where she recalls driving right into a fence.  That was their laugh for years.  Jerry and Carol prayed many prayers together as well as his sisters, Sherryl and Phyllis and never leaving God out of any circumstance or situation.

Jerry has two sons and one step-son:  son, Jerry (PJ) Hennings (Arlene); grandchildren, James and Katie Rose;  son, Cheyenne Hennings; grandchildren, Trent, Randy, Jasmine and Tara; step-son, Jeff Black; grandchildren, Serena, Ashley, Myrissa, and Brianna.

He is survived by his wife and soul mate, Cynthia Hennings of Helena, step daughter, Crystal Bundy; grandchildren, Deidra and Dale of California, Stephanie Bundy of Helena, William Bundy (Kayla); grandchildren, Jolie Brook, Dominick and Shelby  of Helena; Brothers, Matt of Helena, Burt of Coeur d’Alene, ID, Randy (Barb) of California; sisters, Carol Rose of Butte, Sherryl House, Phyllis Mills and Patty Hennings all of Helena; Several nephews, nieces and cousins; (special uncle) Dick McPhee, (special aunt) Jo McPhee.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother Wilbur and June Hennings, Sister Virginia Kooken.

Cynthia Hennings, his wife, nephew Rick Williams spent the day with Jerry so he was not alone. They gave him lots of encouragement, read him Bible scriptures, and celebrated his 68th birthday, so he could see his birthday gifts and to have a little party for him.  The most special gift he received, was Jesus healing him from all the suffering and pain.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the Helena First Assembly of God Church, 2210 Dodge Avenue, Helena.  A reception will follow after the service (pot luck) at the church. Memorials in Jerry’s name may be sent to God’s Love, 533 N. Main, Helena, MT 59601 or to an organization of donor’s choice.

First of all, my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who loved and knew Jerry. I just adored Jerrys kindred spirit, his love for people, and most of all his devoted love to God. He was by far one of the most unselfish people I had ever known. I am greatful that Jerry was married to my mom (Cindy)..it was sooo cute to see their little faces light up when we would drop something as simple as soda pop off to them. Dale is going to miss the long walks and long hikes; as he was Jerry’s little sidekick for many years. Thank you so much Jerry. We love you very much.

Dear Cindy, family, and the whole Hennings’ clan. I share in your sadness of having to say “Good Bye”, to Jerry, for just a brief moment in time. I’m so glad for you Cindy that you had the time you did with your most perfect soul mate. As the old gospel song tells us, ” Soon and very soon, we are going to see the LORD”. I can’t wait for the greatest family reunion in history to take place in heaven. Then, we who are suffering physical and emotional pain will actually get to dance and celebrate with our loved ones and be disease free! You’re all in my prayers.
