In Memory Of

Jessie C. ‘JC’ Sherley, age 84, of Helena

September 14, 1941 – October 19, 2025

JC Sherley, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025 at the age of 84. A man of quiet strength and gentle spirit, JC lived a life rooted in faith, family, and the great outdoors.

He was born on September 14,1941 in Mineral Wells Texas to C.G. and Claudia Fay Sherley. In March of 1958 he moved with his father to Lovell Wyoming, where he discovered wide-open spaces and peaceful landscapes. It was here that his father taught him to rock hound, arrowhead hunt, and love the great outdoors. He spent much of his time fishing and hunting in the Big Horn Basin. He moved his family to Cody and spent many years there raising his kids, playing drums for various bands and events. Years later he would make his way all around Montana and eventually land in Helena where he would spend the remainder of his life enjoying the same beauty of the outdoors.

JC was never one for loud words or big crowds. He found his peace in early morning fishing trips, long days in the woods, and the rhythm of country dancing on warm summer nights. He lived his life with a simple and quiet joy that touched all who knew him. He was the kind of man who didn’t need to say much; his actions spoke louder than any words ever could. Whether teaching his kids how to hunt and fish, sharing the many stories of his life and childhood, or taking his turn on the dance floor, JC moved through life with grace and a strong faith.

He is survived by his seven children, Carolyn (Jeff) Kiteley, Jay (Anita) Sherley, Jeri (Chuck) Markworth, Sheri (Rick) Niemiec, Dutch (Robin) Sherley, Jacie Sherley, Dusty (Jeri) Sherley, 20 Grandchildren and 26 Great Grandchildren. His siblings Jannie West, George Sherley, LaDelle Rodgers, Lloyd Sherley, and Connie Allen. As well as many people that he often referred to as his “Walk On’s” that he truly loved like his own.

He was preceded in death by his parents C. G and Claudia Sherley and siblings Linda Ainsworth, Jamie Kay Rhodes, James Rhodes and Vivian Sherley.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at the Pavilion at 5827 Hwy 12 West in Helena on May 2nd, 2026, at 2 PM.

Though he may have hung up his fishing rod and retired his dancing boots, JC’s memory will live on in every quiet morning, every old country song, and every story shared around the table at family gatherings.

In lieu of flowers you can send a donation to Life Houses (https://secure.qgiv.com/for/donafo).
