JoAnn Devivier Longmire, age 77, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2020 at home surrounded by her family and her two beloved Pomeranians Rosie and Pepper, after a battle with cancer.
JoAnn was born Jan 24, 1943 to Sidney and Mary Devivier. Mary was a career Northern Pacific Railroad employee, and thus JoAnn grew up near the tracks in the Sixth Ward. She attended Helena schools and graduated from Helena High. JoAnn then went to work at the Veteran’s center at Fort Harrison. A job turned into a career of 30 years, and she retired as a loan officer in 1993 after making many great friends there. After retiring she helped the owners of the Grubstake Don and Sharon Ferriter for 11 years. Joann married the love of her life, Bob Longmire, on November 9, 1974. Bob and JoAnn each had kids from previous marriages, and with the addition of Kimberly Sue in 1975, it was a busy and fun-filled time. JoAnn and Bob had a farm, where they supplied many people with farm fresh eggs. They also grew a big garden where JoAnn spent many hours canning the vegetables which were then shared with friends and family. They enjoyed 40 years of adventure and laughter together, before Bob passed away in 2014. Bob and JoAnn enjoyed many sunny afternoons on the deck of their north valley home.
After her daughter Kim married the love of her life Ron, JoAnn immediately found a connection with Ron as her weekend garage sale buddy. They never missed a garage sale until JoAnn started getting sick this July. Ron stayed by her side until she took her last breath.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents, and brother Floyd (Dick) Devivier and her beloved pet companion Amy. She is survived by her daughter Kim (Ron) Reinhardt, daughter Jackie (Scott) Smith, son Michael (Angela) Heller, and her 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Special thanks to St Peters Hospice, Dr Tom Wiener. A graveside service will be held with immediate family, a celebration will be held after Covid for extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lewis & Clark Humane Society, or the organization of your choice.

Joann was my neighbor, friend and great friends to anyone that was lucky enough to know her. Her and her husband were the very best neighbors anyone could hope for. There are no words that can describe the love I will always carry in my heart for them. I watched some of her grandchildren grow from newborns to young adults. I’m honored to be one of the family.
