Joann Marie Tabbert
1942-2023
Joann was carried to heaven on October 20, 2023. She grew up on a family farm near Akaska, SD, the second youngest of eight children. At the age of 16, she married Marvin Tabbert, who proceeded her in death after forty-five years of marriage. She was the dear mother of two children, Dean and Cheryl.
Joann loved her family, friends, and her church family at Valley View Lutheran. Jesus was her rock and savior, she made certain that her children learned about the love of Christ. She was hard-working, with a generous heart. She was handy with tools, wood-working and refurbishing. She could easily solve crossword puzzles and humbly beat us all at cards (Rummy). She enjoyed gardening and could grow almost anything (except deer- proof plants). She crocheted many beautiful gifts and as she grew older her passion for reading increased, exchanging boxes of light-hearted murder mysteries with a dear friend.
Joann was proceeded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters, and two brothers. She is survived by two children, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one sister, one brother, many nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Joann was dearly loved and is missed, but we are comforted by the joy she is experiencing in heaven.

I will greatly miss her. She was a dear friend to me. When my two boys were little she would take them to summer Bible studies at her church. They loved that. Her sister Hazel and I would go Garage Sailing with her. We always had fun. I have kept in touch with her for over 30 years. We had many talks over cups of tea and she did express to me that she was ready anytime Jesus was ready for her. I know she is happy and at peace. Dear Joann, we will meet again in Heaven one day.
