John was born on January 7, 1980 to David and Marilynn Swanson at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital. The family moved to Kent, Washington where John attended Kent schools.
John was a self-educated man and highly intelligent. He attended Helena College Vocational School while helping take care of his dad. He worked for a construction company and laid the floor in the Capitol building.
The Swanson family moved back to Helena, MT where John had a variety of jobs. He worked at the County Market as the Dairy Manager before working five years for UPS.
John was a very caring man, and he showed that while attending to his ill mother. His true love was his daughter, Kathryn Reese Swanson, who was born on February 25, 2000. He cared deeply for his grandmother, Joyce Williams.
John changed his life plans to tend to Kathryn’s needs as a father. He also helped with his dad until he died on June 12, 2003. At the time of his passing, John was the caregiver for his mother, Marilyn who is very ill.
John was preceded in death by his father, David P. Swanson; and his grandparents, David E. Swanson, Helen Hollenbeck, and Maurice E. Williams. John is survived by his mother, Marilyn Swanson; daughter, Kathryn Swanson; sisters, August Swanson and Stephanie Swanson; and his grandmother, Joyce Williams. He is also survived by one niece, three nephews, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Viewing hours will begin 11:00 a.m. with funeral services to be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 22nd at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home. Ashes will be laid at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.aswfuneralhome.com.
